If Hosea wanted to talk he would, and when he doesn't Sam doesn't push. It's just not her way. Instead she offers him a warm smile and a nod. The offer was made, and it's not rescinded. It'll be there if ever he chooses to take it up, today, tomorrow, six months from now, whenever, never.
Sam doesn't stay much longer after that, just until Hosea has to snap at the preteens again. Then she says her goodbyes and leaves him to it. Sam has the memory of a two younger siblings around their First Changes - one of which still haunts her dreams from time to time. Hosea has helped countless cubs for many years. He's got this, and she has other things to do, like hug the hell out of her son.
