Two men are dead after a violent attack at a fast food restaurant in northwest Denver Monday afternoon.

Denver police Deputy Chief said the Denver men, 23-year-old Ricardo Perez and 20-year-old Evan Dinkins, were both declared dead at the scene.

Dinkins, a shift manager at the restaurant, was reportedly assisting Perez, a mechanical engineer with Total Plumbing HVAC & Mechanical, in routine maintenance at the time of the attack.

"Nobody was back there with them," said employee Lashawndra Fisher. "It's loud in the kitchen, with all the machines and everything, but it didn't look like they were having any kind of problems. They were friends, you know?"

Emergency responders were called to 3320 West 38th around 4:35 p.m. and found Perez and Dinkins with lacerations to their upper bodies. Officers found them inside the kitchen at the restaurant.

A third person, whose name has been withheld, was transported by ambulance to Denver Health Medical Center for treatment of similar injuries and is currently in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing, the Deputy Chief said, and declined to further discuss the slayings.

The men's deaths marked the 33rd and 34th homicides in Denver this year.
