The Westword 2013 Music Showcase was last month. Their ballot for local acts was 7 pages long, and those are just the acts for the public to vote on. But they were helpfully sorted into their genres. So! If you need a name for a band your character is seeing tonight or knows a member of or is in and don't want to come up with their name or sound yourself, go nuts:

I didn't even read this list til I posted it, but case in point: the singer from Vitamins [POP - INDIE] is also a music teacher at a school I used to work at, and a couple of years ago went touring with the Flaming Lips.
I would not call their (Vitamins') music 'pop', but I didn't make the list.

For the magelings, there would probably be an extra entry for "DJ Halcyon" in the DJ - EDM field.
