Thomas's story of what happened on the 43rd floor of Cold Crescent is the last note that lingers in the ears of the garou tonight. The mood after that is... strange.
After a very long silence, a black-furred, crinos-formed werewolf walks forward. His rage is a heavy thing, a mantle he wears. He does not urge those around him into near-frenzy or lead them on a merry chase. He was going to. Instead he drops, sudden as though shot in the head, to his knees, and begins keening. It's not even growling. It's a low, undulating sound that rakes at the brain and splits open the soul, and as he keens, growling and rough, he begins to rock, a mourner gone mad with grief.
A few others begin to make that same horrible, aching noise in their throats. It grows. It begins to turn into howling, unabashed and terrible as the wailing and screaming heard in the depths of the Abyss itself. Wolves begin to surge forward into that sound, seeking contact, seeking closeness, limbs tangled and fur against fur.
One cannot strictly call it a revel. There is no joy in it. There is only grief, only pain. Only rage. There's no music or harmony to this howling, no beauty. Perhaps it is not what he is meant to do, but it's the only thing he can do right now. But at least it's a release. Tonight they are united, even if that unity comes through sorrow.
