When Shoshannah calls Kalen, whether she gets voicemail or him, she sounds like she's coming down with a cold - stuffy nose, scratchy throat, everyone knows how it goes. "I . . . don't know how to do this thing where I ask for more help than a ride somewhere too far away to ride my bike. But I can't go back to the house right now, I don't know how long, and Ginger says Sid and Lena are sick. Can . . . could you maybe . . . I don't know, check in on the house and them, too? And maybe give Pomegranate extra love for me, because I'm staying away from your place too. It's for the better. Oh, and while you're at the house, maybe see if you can find any reference to 'Thakinyan' in the library?" Why it's for the better, she doesn't say - maybe it's because of the way they function - or don't, really - when they're together, but it sounds like there's more to it than that.
Then, to Ginger, still sounding like she has a cold (but that's got nothing on the other thing going around): Anyone who's going out to what's-his-name's house, be forewarned - it's huge, like you could fit two of our place in it easy. A place that big, and probably expensive, might have a good mundane security system as well as magical. And there are at least two people there, a lady who I caught on the phone talking about revenge on - or from, I don't know Italian and the French and Spanish didn't help as much as I'd hoped - the Vienna Chantry, or the Hermetics thereof anyway. She mentioned the word 'Thakinyan' in reference to both the film itself and Joshua Keller. When I was looking, he saw me - so I'm staying away from everyone for awhile. I don't know what 'Thakinyan' means, but if it has to do with not being entirely human, I wouldn't be surprised, so be careful. I asked Kalen to look in at the house for me while I'm away. Hopefully it won't be long and I'll be back by the next time the wards need to be renewed.

Sid's text gets a response, of course; there are very few people in this world that Shoshannah comes anywhere near calling friend, and the Orphan is one of them. I'll do my best. I feel like he can still see me, so I'm trying to stay away from everyone until that feeling goes away. Get better, will you?

And a couple days later, after Shoshannah did goodness knows what, another text for Sid: Staying at Kalen's auxiliary place for now, warded in. Hopefully the watched feeling goes away soon.
((Ah, timeline wonkiness. The first message came probably Friday. This one came yesterday, or maybe today.))

The answer comes either a bit before or a bit after Shoshannah's answer to the Ginger thing, long enough after the initial text was sent to be worrisome but not panic inducing.
I'm at Kalen's extra place still, and he's got it well stocked. I'd say come over to drink his beer, but I still feel like I'm being stared at all the time. Which isn't that different than normal, except this guy is a huge creeper.
