The Carey Farm is old. It was built with the hands of a Carey and has been cared for by the same ever since. It has been trampled through from attic to basement by children and grandchildren and has housed laughter and tears and shouts of anger. And, it is quintessential country: a farmhouse sitting on 60 acres of land. Trees populate the front yard with limbs blowing and reaching gently in a breeze that almost always smells of laundry drying on a line or pies cooling on the windowsill, fresh hay being carried out to the stalls for the horses. The front of the house bears a wrap around front porch with a swing that lists desultorily.
It's well over 1800 square feet with four bedrooms and two complete baths. Hardwood floors and electric and propane sources of heat and light. It needs work on the roof and the siding could use replacing. It's all a work in process, though, and any Carey will be quick to make that statement to any who may seem concerned.
Lately, over the last three weeks, the farm has been busier than it normally is. A hog is fattened up. Something (not quite legal) is brewing in the woods behind the house, near the small creek that runs along the back half of the property. There's a small pit dug, big white rocks carried over and put in a circular pattern around it.
There's also word sent from the Carey's to the Garou of the nearby Sept and the Fianna of Colorado: It's Beltane and any child of Stag knows the holiday isn't one to be forgotten. There will be a bonfire, a pig over a spit, half a cow and excellent spirits.
Nothing is required, no RSVP necessary, simply show up and get to know one another.
(Kai was ok with this idea and suggested I put it to the masses whether we do this via chat or forums? I'm ok with whatever others think works best. If we do forums, I will likely make the first intro post today or tomorrow, though it won't officially take place until 4/30-5/1. Thank you!)
