Caveats and Disclaimers
As I've said before, the 'seven' SL is meant to be a slow burn; what is going on and what will happen is something that is evolving very gradually. That means that the effort:payoff ratio is going to feel pretty uneven at times, particularly early on -- and we are still in the 'early on' of this story, believe it or not.
It's not easy to jump into a storyline where a lot of the time your characters are facing unassailable odds, so I want to be pretty up-front about that: your PCs will fail. They will probably feel powerless. It will even be frustrating at times. But not all the time. And even when it doesn't feel like it, what your PCs do now, even in the early stages, is going to shape the long-term view of the game.
So that said: if you don't sign up for SL scenes, I'm not going to take it personally. If you do sign up and feel like you're beating your head against a wall, it's okay to throttle back your PC's involvement. The main thing I need from any player who wants to join in on these scenes is trust. If you feel like you can trust me as an ST to do my best to make it enjoyable and make it meaningful, I would love to run things for your character(s).
