Though they need rest, they are not finished. The sisters share what they gleaned from their meditations.
Then they sleep. Wednesday is a day for further recovery and further planning and discussion. Lucy takes Delilah to the chantry for the first time, there to recharge in - ugh - the hot spring of a Node. Lucy is careful about entering, is careful not to let her bare feet touch the lush and verdant grasses and plants around the pool. They are so lovely, she does not want to kill them accidentally (how rude would that be?). It is not easy for Lucy, being enveloped in the liquid heat of the Node. It is too hot and she is too cold, feels like she is melting already when she's only a few steps away. Dipping in a toe, the world spins and she quickly exits, sits, tries to gather herself. She is dedicated, though. She is determined. Time passes and she tries again and this time? This time, she and Delilah are able to recharge.
That doesn't mean that when she feels herself recovered Lucy lingers, or takes her time getting out. Even woozy, Lucy can move quite swiftly when the need arises.
That night, back in The Gloaming, while Lucy sketches in a notebook, they confer again. Not to worry at the problem before them, not to turn that stone over and over and over again, but to decide where to go next. What is the next step? Obviously, they have to spread the word, but how?
"Kalen put this thing on my phone," says Lucy, face all scrunched with uncertainty as she pulls out the device. It is a simple thing, a cheap Cricket smartphone. Lucy can make and receive calls and she can send and receive texts. Sometimes she tries to search the internet to answer a question. That is all that Lucy Simms requires of her mobile device. This...Ginger....thing......? "I don't know how it works, but it's how everyone here...connects or something?" She shows it to Delilah but these sisters, they are not terribly computer literate. They did not spend their youths playing video games or chatting with strangers on computers. They have to go another route.
Which is what they do.
Which will be described in other posts very soon probably.
