Wednesday evening, Alexander dropped the Dreamspeaker at her home, the area surrounding the duplex still seeming radiant and frosted. It's not until he's been long gone that she has a realization. An idea.
First she meditates, which she does alone. Delilah is Elsewhere, as the sisters are not always together. Her physical absence is felt keenly, though Lucy understands that it's unavoidable. There is no time to wait for her to come home, see.
It's Thursday now, and Lucy is alone in The Gloaming, the home still (hopefully) protected from Them. The animals are locked away, for their protection and for Lucy's concentration. She will need all of it if she's to See.
Before her again are her instruments. The silver bowl, its surface polished and gleaming before it frosts over; her rune stones; her scissors and threads and needle; the lotus flower incense burner. She does not start at dawn as she did last time, but waits. Something that she'd missed, that she gleaned in her meditations, is the today's eclipse. What better time to call upon her goddess than when the sun is halved by the moon, its light diminished, transitioning early between light and dark?
Lucy waits until noon and then she begins. On her knees she prays to the dusk handmaiden, eyes closed, hands held out in supplication, chin lifted to receive her Vision.
Dusk handmaiden, please. Show me where the ravenous wolves will be. Show me the place of their next strike.
She doesn't know about Elijah's message, doesn't know about those going in after these monsters, doesn't know that even now the actions of others could be distorting images of the future. It doesn't matter. The future is mercurial, always shifting. It was always going to be difficult to interpret.
Opening her eyes, she begins.
She waves her hand slowly and methodically over her pile of runes. With the other she picks up needle, then thread. She selects the stones that ready her to See across Time. Threading the needle, she stitches it through the edges of four pieces of paper. On the pages are the faces of the men she saw. She ties one to one to one, pricks her finger on the needle to draw a droplet of blood that she plants like a kiss upon each of their mouths. With the silver scissors she cuts the thread and moves the now-threaded-together collection of pages. Sets them on the floor, and then the silver leaf-like mirrored bowl atop it.
Then she waits for the image to clear. She waits a while. Hours tick by in silence in the cold living room. Outside the light shifts, darkens but not completely. The sun is only half-gone, half-obscured. The darkness is incomplete.
Finally, the surface of the mirror clears and Lucy Sees...

Hopefully something useful. If it is, she sends a message first to Alexander:
