"What about the cabin?"
She pauses, poised see. Halfway in shadow and halfway in the sun. Turns back and glances at him over her shoulder and favors him with a smile, direct, even intimate. He reaches out to catch the screen and hold it open with his free hand as he follows her into the garden, burgers and brats and tofu sausage and marinated veggies ready for the grill. They're having a cookout. All she's carrying are a pair of Moscow mules, one purportedly for him. She'll probably drink both.
"Keep it for the summer." This neat little shrug as she steps fully into the sun and looks away again. "It's weird but I like going out there."
"I could still rearrange my schedule. Come with you."
Here's the grill, he opens the lid with a free hand and grins, quick and confident. The heat is perfect. Fuck, he's good at this.
"You're not always gonna be there."
"Shows what you know - " An intensity to this. Like a pledge. Like a spell.
She hears it. Of course she hears it. She looks away from him, takes a drink. Inhales.

And turns back, rises to the tips of her toes and kisses him in the middle of the forehead. Some fucking chakra, though the gesture is as unintentional as it is necessary and meaningful.
"Dan, love. I'll see you in a few weeks. Oh, and look in on that kid, Elijah, while I'm gone. He's one of us, you know? Take him to see Jim, maybe. Cool?"

OOC: Sera will be (has been) out of the country since before the news of the disappearances came out, and I think that Hawksley is with her. Just makes it easier for me to presume that she's not around while I'm not around when stuff is going on that might concern/interest her. Later folks!
