Alicia's Dad

So, here goes my first attempt at using this to do more than respond so bear with me:

How many of you have met Alicia? She's my age, short, dark hair? Anyway, if you haven't met her, here is the situation about her dad:

- Alicia's dad, Khaled Abandonato (sp?), was some kind of special. I don't know his tradition or anything, or if he had one, but this is a guy who was hardcore enough that she has vague recollection of him Doing Something and he may or may not have rewritten time. He apparently ran into the sour side of the Technocracy (from what I've gathered, every side of them is the sour side, anyway) and a couple months after Alicia awakened they had a run in with them and they carted him off and away.

That's the general situation.

Here's why I think it's important we do something about it:

1: Alicia is pretty fucked up about this: she lives out of a suitcase, is super paranoid, and has been generally alone for who knows how long. She's not going to ask for help because she doesn't think that she isn't coping, but seriously it takes five minutes with her to know that things aren't exactly kosher. I don't know if they're looking for her, too, or not but I don't know what to do to make sure she's safe

2: death/torture/maiming/human experimentation are only the tip of the iceberg: this is a dude who can, and has, rewritten the timeline. With enough time, what could they do with someone like that? Would this potentially bite everyone in the ass later? Probably. I don't just mean us as in Denver, I mean the magical community as a whole. If this guy was a mover/shaker/whateverer then a lot of people could seriously be in some real and genuine danger.

3: People don't rewrite time for no reason: whatever he did it for, to avoid, as probably pretty damned bad, and it seems like it would be a total waste to let someone who took that big of a risk have those sorts of horrible things happen to him (at best).

So, what are we doing?

If we can find out who his friends were and who his allies were, then we stand a better chance at rescue. The longer we wait, the potentially worse this situation could get, but I recognize that we are not currently equipped to deal with a problem of this magnitude.

Some time after the message gets posted to Ginger, it is edited. Grace is paranoid. Probably for good reason.

It's not always that someone so dedicated to information freedom comes by to play censor. There's always a risk with freedom of information. This time, innocent people are going to die if certain information gets out.

After the whole thing gets edited, Alyssa chimes in.

Okay, I gotta ask. Are we redacting things because Ginger really isn't as safe as it's been made out to be, or because the rest of us aren't to be trusted with said information? Because there's all sorts of personal, potentially-damaging information all over this service including phone numbers, addresses and more. If we need to be worried about Ginger getting hacked, maybe I should start redacting my own stuff.

Okay, I never told any of you that Ginger was safe. Only safer. I always make a point to reiterate that bit. I do take the security seriously, but with everything like this, there are risks we must weigh.

I have done some looking into Khaled Abandonato, and I felt that the person being talked about in the above message should have the right to make her own choice about how much danger she was exposed to by having her information posted here. And there is a good deal of danger. The whole Khaled thing is just as radioactive as it seems. For right now, she is perfectly fine. But if the wrong person were to read what was originally posted, she'd be hunted down with far more of a laser focus than just "so and so happens to be a Traddie". It's up to her if she wants to take that risk, imo.

As far as I'm aware, she doesn't even know Ginger exists. She has not heard my spiel about the safety of this place. And Elijah is doing her talking for her without asking if maybe she doesn't want her intimate details spread around to all the Awakened mages in the city, never mind the potential danger of a Technocrat coming across it.

His heart is in the right place, but he really needs to learn the whole getting permission thing.

I was out of line with this post. I didn't ask the person who it was about whether or not I could post this information; all I was thinking about, at the time, was the fact that I had attempted to reach out for help for this person and I had not received what I believed to be stellar responses. After I figured out that I was out of line, I figured that I couldn't actually take back what I'd said. The knowledge is already out there. I already violated this person's trust, and going back and changing things wouldn't have been done without a seriously good reason. I trust Grace.

Now that everything seems to be squared away, I figured I would let you guys know the info that I have dredged up about Khaled Abandonato. Attached is a picture. If you see this guy, remember that he was taken by the Technocracy, so it may not actually be him.

Khaled is a Son of Ether, and apparently a very powerful one. I read his notes and while a lot of it was beyond me, he seemed pretty obsessed with 'The Beyond' and mapping out Time. His resonance feels like bubbling, spinning, popping, and it's very strong.

Speaking of Time, apparently some time in 2008 he did something extreme. His notebook says that he cannot remember writing anything prior to that date. There is some evidence that he rewrote the past, and this could have led to his being noticed and chased by the Union.

His apprehension occurred in Littleton a few months ago.

He has a wife who is (as far as I know) a Sleeper and in Tanzania. He also has a daughter.

Dr. Alethea Morgan is an associate of his, and she is currently on the run. Technocratic operatives traced her to Missouri this April, but the trail went cold at that point.

The truly frightening thing about all of this is that while the Techs had detailed information about Dr. Morgan, Khaled's wife, and his daughter, all they had on him was a name and a Tradition. My source on this was some lower-level classified documents, so it suggests that this guy is something more along the lines of Top Secret, and they don't feel as though their own peons need to know jack about him. Which means he is probably still alive.

I am currently attempting to contact someone with the Sons of Ether in an attempt to find out more about Khaled and Alethea.
