Associated PCs/NPCs:

* Jack the Nosferatu. You probably won't see him around. NPCish PC or PCish NPC. Played by Tithe.
* Molly the Nosferatu. There's this lady (?) who really likes hoodies (or maybe she's a burn victim). PC. Played by Kenna.
* Greg Wilce. He works four days of the week and he's the best baker there is. Seriously: his doughnuts are a poem. He's also the manager and owner, usually has flour somewhere about his person, gives off an air of world weary-confidence. Demeanors: Confidant, Soldier, Survivor. Wanna know more? Roll Intelligence + Streetwise, diff 7, or Intelligence + Politics (Camarilla), diff 8. NPC run by Tithe.
Description: 24/7 Donut Shop shaped like an L inside with what seems to be a large back kitchen. The place could use a paint job, the walls being run-down and the awning a faded green that barely remembers what it was to be green. The floor is tile, usually quite clean. Decoration is bare bones, and there's a corner where the security mirrors don't reach. The alley way behind the Donut Shop sometimes has a couple of people living in boxes, because everybody knows (Streetwise roll, or Street Influence roll) that if you're down on your luck/homeless there are free donuts on Tuesday mornings (especially for anybody with an interesting story to tell). The clientele is a mix of people who can barely afford donuts, police (both corrupt as f' and not), other street people, and high kids desperately in need of food.

History of Note: Go Nuts Donuts was formerly John's Doughnuts. It's been in operation for upwards of 50+ years and the current owner/manager (Greg) is the son of the guy who went before. A famous murder in the 60s occurred on its front doorstep.

Things to Know:

* The bathroom is almost always out of order.
* If you're acknowledged Camarilla, it's known that if you want to contact a Nosferatu you can tape an envelope any time to the bottom of the post office across the street from Go Nuts Donuts and you'll be contacted soon. If you want to be more direct, you can go in on a Tuesday and leave a message with whoever is working the counter.
Another series of aftershocks took place on June 24th, 2013, with four security guards killed at the Denver Zoo in City Park when a massive sinkhole opened up near the Primate Panorama.
Las Vegas Awakening
Word comes around June 27th, 2013 of a Methuselah awakening from its torpor in Las Vegas, its clan unknown. Some question if it is a Cainite at all, especially considering its apparent activity near daylight hours, though that may only be thanks to living consorts. In any case within nights a Brujah Archon, Vivian Menlow, is sent to investigate. She was found staked out for the sun and hung from the Stratosphere Tower, the Masquerade breach spun into a failed trick by one of the city's more extreme illusionists. A cadre of Sabbat also came expecting a fight. They were either members of the Black Hand or Templars, depending on the source, and disappeared completely after their first day's stay in the city. Justicars deny the rumors and Cardinals use them as a rallying cry. It's all quiet by Thursday, and many believe the entity has moved on.
Duck Lake and Something Wicked
July 8th, 2013, gunfire is reported at Duck Lake in City Park. This is considered tied to the mass hysteria caused when the lake was, for a short time, seemingly transformed to the color and consistency of blood and began bubbling violently. A number of the park's waterfowl are reported fatally poisoned by the occurrence. Authorities link it to the sink hole and recent seismic instability the may have released poisonous gas or chemicals into the water. Stories get around, as they always do, and among Kindred and Cainites its said a flock of ducks were viciously and potently defending the lake. Tremere and Ventrue may know more about the situation and are encouraged to contact the Admin.

The Battle of Richthofen Castle
July 24th, 2013 emissaries of Lady Adelaide, a Ventrue Stratego from Geneva, begin arriving in Denver. They include two ancillae, Jonas Halder and Jun Oka, and a distinguished elder and agent of Adelaide, Wenceslao. Lady Adelaide arrives on the 27th of July and finally makes her appearance on the 3rd of August to hold court in Richthofen, where Elysium is being held by the Brujah Primogen and the only viable candidate for Prince, Helmer Rasmussen.

Kindred are given the chance to claim certain territories and make their introductions. A notable revelation is that the three Tremere who arrived with Margaret Hill are reformed Sabbat of House Goratrix, survivors of the purge and now loyal to House Tremere's cause. They claim Ives, Sullivan and Company, a publishing house, and the University of Denver as their feeding grounds.

Helmer Rasmussen is installed as Prince with Lady Adelaide's trusted adviser, Wenceslao, invited to stay as his Seneschal.

As Lady Adelaide begins speaking to close the proceedings she is interrupted when a stake emerges through her heart placed there by Henrietta in Rags, the former Nosferatu Primogen through diablerized in the 1930s. When he Obfuscate falls a war pack is revealed and a Sabbat attack on the gathering begins. Henrietta's childe Gotfred frenzies when he sees her and comes to her aid when Wenceslao and Samit the Assamite try to fight her off. An Anarch, Everett, tries to rally the Camarilla to Rasmussen's cause and fight off the Sabbat. He dies doing just that.

Henrietta is dispatched by Samit and Wenceslao. Also among the dead are Jonas Halder, Anne Benton (one of the Tremere), a number of Sabbat shovelheads and shock troops, a Tzimisce known as Hawthorne,

Samantha Balbec, a Venture holding the rank of Neonate at the time, saw to it Adelaide was safely carried from the field of battle. As a reward she was recognized as an Ancilla along with all the power and responsibility that comes along with holding a life boon from a torpid Ventrue Stratego.

Since the Siege on Richthofen, Gotfred, the Nosferatu Primogen, has not stepped foot from his subterranean nest to face his Prince- or indeed interacted with any Kindred not of his clan.

The events are covered up using a rivalry between two Aryan and Neo-Nazi organized criminal elements, one of which had supposedly booked the castle under a cover organization for a private event.

The (Police) State of Elysium
Following the Battle of Richthofen Castle the main gathering area of the estate is repaired, but Elysium functions are now being held in a more secure underground bunker within the castle.

Word from On High (From the Lady in the Mountains)
A small group of Sabbat are summoned to meet with Ioana de Moieciu, Cardinal of the Mountain States, in her Basilica, a regional temple in a relocated castle outside of Aspen, Colorado. They bring back word to the Sabbat (though it will no doubt leak to other sects and clans) of Methuselah activity in the region, including Omaha, Las Vegas, Wichita, Salt Lake City, and now a possible Antediluvian at work in Denver to the Sabbat. Blood cults long thought lost to history are resurgent. Finally, she notes that they seek an artifact: The Stone of Enoch. The Altar of Caine's First Temple from The First City.

A Brief (and Explosive) Interlude
On 4/4/14 a car bombing rocks downtown and claims the lives of two ghouls outside a posh Camarilla feeding ground frequented primarily by Toreador and Ventrue. This sets off a renewal in aggressions in with a series of tit for tat reprisals leading to no few Final Deaths on both sides.

A manhunt through June for the suspected bomber ends in a car chase and more explosions. Though the public story is that the apprehended bomber blew himself with a surgically implanted bomb when taken to the hospital for treatment many Kindred and Cainites no doubt suspect otherwise.

More Tremors in Denver
More tremors occur in Denver in mid-May, though if there are vampires aware of their cause, they are not coming forward.

The Chains of the Night Loosen
Vampires suddenly find themselves unencumbered by their humanity (or lack thereof) when it comes to rising at dusk and slumbering at dawn. As soon as the sun sets they are able to awaken and they are also able to stay focused and alert close to its dawn.

I encourage players to run scenes for each other. I am always excited when I hear that is happening. I want you to feel like you're able to stretch out and have fun within the setting. How happy does it make me? I will award XP to whatever PC you want it applied to, even (especially) if none of your PCs were involved.

Please realize that as soon as you feel that you're putting on your ST hat, though, you must also take into account the fact you are doing so in what is a collaborative creative environment. Things may be happening that could be effected or effect what you have going on.

You may not even know it. There are implications and consequences. Think Brownian motion.

I'm just the man behind the curtain, but I need to be informed of these things.

'But Joey, that's common sense,' you say!

To that I reply: You would be surprised!

That being said, our system will require that I be informed by forum PM or e-mail (vampire [at] woddenver [dot] com) of storylines you're running. This may need to be beforehand (and may require approval) in some cases, or as soon as possible after the fact in others.

The rules for differentiating whether you need to let me know before or after the fact aren't always hard and fast, but there are a few guidelines that could make identifying which your storyline, one-shot, or scene qualifies as. Sometimes these will even overlap and intersect into a Venn diagram type mine field.

It will be navigated thusly.

These examples and characteristics will be broken down into four categories:

beforehand;

beforehand with approval;

after the fact (you can even throw it into the monthly journal you want ST XP applied to);

as soon as bloody possible.

Here are the questions you may want to ask yourself:

Does it involve an NPC as listed in the NPC list on the system pages or within my Jove gallery? You should let me know beforehand and with approval.

Does it involve any NPCs you'll be creating with power levels outside of the basic rules for quick play or neonate characters? After the fact is fine.

Does it involve any NPCs you'll be creating with power levels of ancillae? Beforehand.

Does it involve any NPCs you'll be creating with power levels greater than would be approved for a PC? Beforehand with approval.

Is there definitely the possibility of a Masquerade breach or is one integral to the storyline? Beforehand.

Was there a Masquerade breach? As soon as bloody possible.

Are law enforcement or emergency services involved? After the fact is fine.

Would it end up in the news? As soon a bloody possible, and it would be a lot easier for me if you were the one who made the forum post notifying the general public (read: PCs not living under a rock).

Is this storyline going to involve possible deadly conflict between two or more PCs? This one is complicated. If the players are fine running this between themselves or are able to pick a neutral storyteller to step in and handle the dice or otherwise moderate, after the fact is fine. If even one of the players wants to get me involved, even if the storyline has already begun, pause the scene and let me know as soon as possible.

Does it involve supernatural NPCs other than vampires, ghouls, or ghosts? Beforehand with approval.

Did things get bloody? As soon as bloody possible.

Might it inflame tension between the Sects or independent clans? Beforehand.

As for how informed I need to be, in any of these categories, a bullet point list of important NPCs and a brief outline of the storyline is all that's necessary.

If at any point a player with a PC involved in a storyline wants to appeal to a higher power on a system or dice ruling, pause the scene and let me know. It will also make life easier for you to let players know if there's a possibility of death, dismemberment, or permanent psychological damage.

This thread will remain open for any questions, concerns, or comments you might have.

Thank you for your time.

Rapture

\

Location: 1222. Glenarm Place (Off Colfax)
Owner: Kali (I'm pretty sure it's officially in someone else's name, I need to check my notes.)
Venue Style: Strip Club

Basic description: Rapture is a relatively new establishment along the Colfax strip, having been opened to the public in December. It sits on the site of what was once...well, a strip club. I know, no points for originality there, but when you're looking to start up a new business location is key, and this little spot of real estate just off of Colfax is perfect for such an establishment. And thus the sign out front was changed from "Diamond Cabaret" to "Rapture" and the inside was renovated.

And by "renovated" we mean "turned up a notch." The Diamond's biggest problem is that it tried to be a respectable gentlemen's club. There are much nicer places one can go if they want to pretend they're celebrities and make it rain amidst bottles of Cristal. When Kali took over the club she immediately set to giving it a makeover that added touches of sleaze...but not so many that it was the kind of place you'd be embarrassed to be found in, necessarily. She simply found the term "family-friendly gentlemen's club" to be an oxymoron, and the man who thought such a business would find itself in the black a full moron. The walls were given a paper that gives off vague memories of the 1970s, the floor and upholstery colored reds and blacks. There's plenty of lighting for the main stage, and not much for the rest of the club. It puts the right person in the spotlight and keeps the patrons in the dark.

There are also VIP rooms and private dance areas, the latter cordoned off by curtains. The alcohol flows free from a bartender who looks like she probably dances when she's not serving drinks (she does). And upstairs are the real private rooms, where you can get a fetish show. It's just that mix of glamour, lust and trashy that makes for a perfect strip club.

There are also ways, for those in the know, to get your hands on various illicit substances as well. Those generally come through the bartender, a statuesque woman who goes by Opal. If you ask her, she will tell you that she doesn't possibly know how to get her hands on that kind of thing but that if you hang around and take a table, an opportunity might present itself. Soon after a man (one of Kali's dealers) will approach you and a deal will be made.

The Upstairs Rooms

The upstairs rooms, dubbed "The Sins" by the staff and clientele, are where you can get a private fetish show. Each of the six rooms are named after one of the seven deadly sins and offer different fetish shows as follows:

Wrath: S&M
Pride: Bondage
Envy: Voyeurism
Gluttony: Group Shows
Sloth: Hookah Lounge With A Show
Lust: Bedroom Setting

While there is no official offering of any illicit trade on the menu, the girls can negotiate that on their own and while the proprieter officially knows nothing about it, you can be sure that a small cut ends up flowing into those coffers.

Images: (The below pictures do not accurately display the layout; rather, they present what the overall "look" of the first floor)

Rapture

Images: (The below pictures do not accurately display the layout; rather, they present what the overall "look" of the first floor)

... And another life is claimed by the food service industry.

So, I've been working a lot. It's the holiday season and that's a very busy time when you're holding down two jobs at two restaurants.

And I holds it the fucks down, yo. Thank you liberal arts degree.

Anyway, I'll be around during the day this Wednesday and Thursday (until around 2 or 3 PM) and all day Friday (from when I wake up until I take a nap or fall asleep for good). And then I'll be gone all weekend.

My schedule through to mid-January is probably going to be similarly tight. For that I apologize to those wanting to do things with their characters, though I will be available to answer forum posts, e-mails, and the occasional pre-scheduled small scene. I also encourage you all to antagonize each other with your biting and verbal (and literal) sniping and intrigue-planning PCs.

If anyone wants to run something during this time, as well, you're as always welcome to throw a proposal my way. Or just, you know, do it if it's something that's relatively low key. Just don't blow up the Sabbat Temple (without my permission).

Your patience is greatly appreciated.

If you went back ten years Red Queen's Club would have been a name on many scenester's lips, in their vocabulary, deep in their trendy little minds. Because back at the dawn of the new millenium the Red Queen's Club was the height of the new, the epicentre of the cool, and enjoyed its fame [and notoriety] for several long legendary years. It's owner had been enigmatic and mysterious, his or her rise to owning this club something of an urban legend. Some say he'd won it in a high stakes bout of russian roulette, and why he called it the Red Queen's Club...because someone most definitely lost their head in that deal. Some say she was a wealthy and disenfranchised european heiress with thoughts of grandeur and a new monarchy of the streets. Other's say they knew them from college, a decent student who had won big in the lottery...Regardless, in its time the Red Queen's Club had been a marvel of the night life scene in Denver.

But that was then, and this is now. Its mysterious owner disappeared [or simply sold the club] a few years back, and since then it has declined from a queen's court into a madwoman's dream.

Upon entry to the club a once glorious circular bar with red neon lights and impressions of wonderlandesque creatures and vista's stamped into metal dominates the view, it's surfaces now tarnished and hellishly lit, radiating out around the bar are a serious of two people tables some with chair's others without.

As you step past the rounded monstrosity, baring witness to chess pieces which have been strung up on wires from the ceiling or lashed to the angular walls of the club one beholds a lowered area in which sits the clubs chess piece inspired dance floor, its perimeter surrounded by booths and tables aplenty, its lighted floor only half operational, giving the space a lopsided and almost painful appearance.

The lighting feels infernal, and the AC seems to either not work, or is barely powered enough to pass health and safety. The crowd is no longer so many of the up and comers, but often those for whom the party never ends...even though it should have some time ago.

As with vampires, any taste of vitae is enough to move a mortal along the stages of the Blood Bond.

Even a drop will do, just as only a drop is enough to Embrace a drained corpse, and is able to subject them to the addictive and euphoric properties of the vitae. In this way it is a tonic that causes many conventional drugs to pale in comparison.

A full blood point (for measurement's sake let's say around half of a pint for the average 13th Generation vampire, though a cup or even a tablespoon for the blood of 5th or 6th Generation Elders) needs to be imparted in order for ghouling to be initiated, though. Upon imbibing a full blood point, aging is stopped and disciplines are conferred along with all the other boons and banes of being a ghoul.

This helps to explain how many Camarilla vampires can have loyal and sizable herds without threatening the Masquerade, how not every enthralled politician under a Kindred's thumb is actually a ghoul, and differences between the Allies, Retainers and Herd backgrounds.

The rules for sliding along the Blood Bond scale for mortals are still in effect, with foregoing even a taste for 12 minus Willpower months necessary to move down a step. This is in no means an easy task. Ghouls who lose their domitors and even mortals who have developed a taste for the stuff may begin to seek out other sources, and sometimes by force if they don't wish to be under the control of another cruel or indifferent master.

Challenging Willpower and Self-Control rolls may come into play, and though their difficulty becomes lower the further from fully Blood Bound the ghoul or mortal becomes, the addiction always remains and will rear its ugly head whenever vitae or the vampires that possess it present themselves.
