Christmas

True to his word, Kalen brings no pinatas to the House this year. The tree he brings is not a colossal long-needled affair again; instead, this year there is a live blue spruce, decorated simply with white lights and white ribbon. The stockings from last year (some of which are stockings that pre-date Kalen's decorating and were procured by Shoshannah) are brought out, with new stockings for new additions to Denver. And he brings candles. White candles, red candles, green candles, silver candles, gold candles. They are arranged about the House, alone and in groups. Some are tied with ribbons, silk ribbons, velvet ribbons, satin ribbons.

Stockings are filled, for now, with a small clove stuffed orange, a small gold coin, and a handful of chocolate truffles and peppermints. Kalen leaves space in them in case other people want to add things as well. One way or another though, they'll all be overflowing before Christmas.

[If he has so much as heard your name in connection with Denver, you have a Christmas stocking. Kalen will not let a little thing like animosity dampen his enthusiasm for presents.]

Trinity Schedules and Activity

Annie

Annie is self-employed as a woodworker, so she doesn't keep regular hours. She tends to come and go on the property as her needs and whims dictate. Often, she can be found in the woodworking shed (the shed is not on the map, but it's located left of the driveway, not too far from the house,) tending to the gardens or wandering through the forest.

Sasha

Sasha works as a homicide detective with the Denver PD. Her "regular" work hours are 7am-4pm Mon-Fri with a three day weekend every other week. However, hours for police detectives are seldom predictable, and she often gets called in at night to investigate crime scenes (in which case her shift begins then.) She's at home less often than her two cabal-mates, but when she is, she can sometimes be found awake at odd hours. (If someone visits the Chantry after 10pm, she's likely to be the one who answers the door.)

Leah

Leah currently works part time at a nursery and garden center in Denver. She spends her time either in the city or hanging out at the Chantry property (helping Annie, reading, exploring, etc.) so she may or may not be around when visitors stop by. That said, she tends not to be very social with strangers, so she usually lets Annie and Sasha do the greeting.

Sera's Chantry Activity

Tuesday night/Wednesday Sera spent in an extended ritual Warding the chantry. The Ward is a Correspondence 2 / Prime 2 / Mind 3 effect to: bar scrying of the location, but also conceal the telltale signs of the node and make the chantry not-noticeable to outsiders. The resonance is rather hidden-doorway, secret passage, closest to Sera's liminal resonance (as otherwise HIDING THINGS is not really in line with the Way Sera Feels.

New Arrivals

Sometime during the night of the 7th, three new residents arrive at the Chantry in a black SUV, claiming two of the upstairs bedrooms. Following this arrival, copies of a note are posted on the front and back doors.

Thought I'd come back and make sure the house hasn't burned down.

Another note is added next to the library which states that the security has been changed to a simple passcode (which can be obtained from anyone who already knows it.)

Kiara's happenings at the Chantry

28th December

Kiara got given the grand tour of the Chantry by Grace and spent a little while hanging out by the Node, introducing herself to Callisto, etc. She's planning on coming and spending time at the Chantry now and then, mostly to soak in those sweet, sweet Node vibes but also to begin familiarizing herself with the territory.

At some point, she'll likely claim a bedroom upstairs for occasional overnighters. Also nobody should be in the least surprised if plants begin to appear. Kiara has a thing for ferns. She doesn't yet have Library access but she's investigating (or will) how to make that happen, also.

A Letter and a Gift [attn: Sid, Sera, Grace and Lena]

Some point before dawn on Sunday morning, two visitors found their way onto the Chantry property. No one but the node's guardian saw them come or go, and no alarms were sounded. They came and went silently, and the only sign of their presence was left on the dining room table: an ornately carved wooden box and a scroll of paper tied up with red ribbon and marked with a wax seal.

A simple note on the box said: For Sid, Grace, Lena and Serafíne. My four brave Valkyries.

Whoever found and opened the scroll, they would discover a letter written in delicate, flowering cursive. This is how it read:

My dear ladies, I must apologize for not being able to thank you properly. You see, I have been called away, so my plans to invite you all to tea shall have to be postponed for another day. Red and I have sent the other spiders back to the place they were summoned from, and good riddance I must say. Never particularly cared for the things, myself.

It is a rare thing these days to find those who will so willingly put themselves at risk to help a stranger. I wish that I had more to offer you in return, but I hope that the contents of this box will provide some measure of reward. You see, it is more than merely my own life that I wish to thank you for. This house, and this land, were once the home of two very dear friends of mine. But fate brought them cruelty and heartache, as it also took the lives of those who followed. When I heard the news of the Seekers' deaths, it was with great sadness. I am sorry to say that I feared what I might find when I came back here.

But I see now that I need not have been afraid. You have made this house a home once more. I felt it the moment I stepped foot onto the land. It is happier than it has been in many years. And that is a thing that I can never truly repay you for.

Alexander's Chantry Activity

In the early hours of the morning, Alexander swings by the Chantry. He looks shattered, if anybody happens to bump into him. Kinda like he'd been awake all night. He stops in the kitchen to leave a note on the fridge.

There's something weird in town. Something that feels like decay is going around taking over people and killing them. I think. I didn't hang around to ask, and the spirit who was there didn't seem to know much. I don't think it's specifically after us, but we're definitely on the menu.

If anyone asks, he might have a little more detail. But he just wants to head to bed now, and heads off after pinning up the note.

~ Connor's Chantry Activity ~

Connor hits up the Chantry twice before the new year, once to check its stores, once again to fill them to bursting. He makes sure the kitchen is stocked with food: frozen pizzas, hot pockets, Cheetos, Doritos, etc. etc., as well as deli meats and artisan breads and the fancy cheeses from the deli (wedges and chunks of wheels because CHEESE AUGH YES). Cheerios and Frosted Mini-Wheats and whole milk. There are two 6-pack carriers in the fridge with an assortment of beers from local breweries, as well as a 6-pack of a homebrew made by one of Connor's friends (he's not one of those Denver bros (yet)).

He also makes sure that any boxes of teas that are past their prime get discarded. The sort-of bar gets stocked, too. Stranahan's [label: Share with friends] and Glenmorangie, Zaya 12 year, Grey Goose. It's over by the bar that Connor has left a smallish wooden box. Inside the box is a large plastic Ziploc back full of weed, rolling papers, and a lighter, as well as a note written on a bright green Post-It:

How to contact him? On the fridge there is another business card. Printed on one side of nice, high quality card stock is a green marijuana leaf on a pale blue background, and HIGH-LINE in all-caps Copperplate Gothic. The other side has Connor's name and work number and a little QR code that'll direct a mobile device to a website with ordering information. It's all surprisingly classy, which means someone else must have designed these things for him. It pays to be well-connected sometimes.

Eleanor's Chantry Activity

In addition to the individuals who have been otherwise given Eleanor's contact information, one of her cards is on the fridge or bulletin board in the kitchen of the chantry. It has her work information (office address/location, work email, etc) but also her cell number. She's also drawn an Omega symbol on it, so it's not hard to figure out her Tradition.

Angry Bear is Angry

On the evening of Sunday, December 1st, something happens. There are those who can explain what and why and how, but those are immaterial at this particular instant, at least until such information is disseminated. And most people will not even be able to tell, if such information is not told to them, that anything happened.

But some will...not because there is a change to the Chantry. The building still stands. The wind still blows through trees, the bubbling warm spring that is the Node still gives off its rejuvenating vibes. Not a sprig of wild grass on the property seems to be disturbed. But those with Spirit...they know something, indeed,

happened.

They know because of Callisto. The bear guardian is someone that anyone who has been on the property and used Spirit magic has likely seen. The enormous white bear-–easily taller than any person and more bulky by several multiples–-can often be seen on the property. Only once has she Manifested, when Mara tried to bring the corpse of the ghul on the property. The rest of the time she seems largely dismissive of the willworkers who populate the Chantry grounds; they live in relative harmony.

After what happens on Sunday, Callisto has lost her calm. She prowls the edges of the property like a vigilant animal who has found a dangerous rival in its territory. She still leaves the mages to their own affairs for the most part, but she is watching them closely now. Her hackles are raised and she seems on the lookout to safeguard against something.

She is a calm guardian of the property, for the most part. It is HER territory but she is willing to share it with these two-legged creatures from the corporeal world. Any other guests they are luring to her territory--willingly or not--are far less welcome.

Kalen's Chantry Activity

The night of the madness at the horror film screening Kalen remains at the chantry in the absence of its usual Guardian.

When people return, he (eventually) bandages Shoshannah's arm and remains upstairs guarding the second floor until at least Shoshannah is awake again.

In the morning (and let's be serious, probably into the afternoon), he spends some time in the library (most of it sleeping).

Lena's Chantry Activity

As of September 5th, Lena has begun showing up at the Chantry on a regular basis. She is helping Shoshanna with regular chore duties around the place; cleaning up, tending to the Node, renewing the wards, et cetera. She hasn't moved in or anything, and if she needs to take a nap or stay overnight she tends to just crash on a couch in an out of the way space like the office, but she doesn't sleep often so that isn't much of an issue!

Grace's Chantry Activity

Grace has pasted up a note in the foyer. It is drawn in black and red, with the red bits there to draw one's eye.

It reads (in crappy handwriting, done slowly enough to be legible):

HEY

So, I was hacked last night, I'm pretty sure it was a Virtual Adept that did so. They were pretty damn good at what they did, at any rate. It wasn't just a getting-to-know-you session, however, because at the end I received a message.

The Technocracy is not gone from Denver. They have a secret lab in the area, and are studying human organ growth and nanotech under the banner of Transhumanism, or H+.

I don't mean to be alarmist, and I don't know much else, just watch yourselves. Note, I didn't text this info out, and neither should you. They are watching.

Shoshannah and Sid's chantry activity

Sid and Shoshannah have commandeered the living room and are turning it into a rec room, since there is so much space.

What they are NOT doing: Remodeling, painting, no major cosmetic changes of any kind

What they ARE doing: It's more of a reorganization.

What people will notice "after" that unnamed forums scene (we don't know if it happens when it finishes or if it's a fixed point already, so):

The console and bean bag from the "rec room" hav been moved to the TV in the living room
The couch in front of the TV has been pushed back to make room for said bean bag
Shoshannah has moved all of her guitars and stuff to that section of chairs in the bottom left corner to make a "jam corner"

There is a note affixed to the fridge with a magnet, written in Sid's crisp, stupidly legible handwriting:

Sid Wrote:The living room is too big and empty, and the rec room is much too small, so Shoshannah and Sid are reversing the polarity. If you would like to assist, please do. Here are the rules:

Chantry and Library Access

Full-time Residents

The Chantry house is usually open to any who need access, provided at least one of its full-time residents is at home. The doors are locked at night and whenever the house is empty, but copies of the key are available to trustworthy mages who wish to acquire one. (Talk to Annie.)

Node access is always open to anyone who wishes to use it responsibly.

The Library is guarded by a security system which is currently set to low level. Anyone wishing to gain access will need to enter a digital passcode which can be obtained from anyone else who already knows it. Books may be read anywhere on the property, but must be returned when finished. (There is a note about library access posted on the wall next to the door.)

[In practice: none of these security measures are intended to keep you guys from playing chantry scenes. Everyone is welcome to assume that at least one of the NPCs is at home when doing scenes at the Chantry (and if you want a key, just talk to me and we can probably make that happen.) As for the library, anyone can get the code from anyone else. You don't need to snag a scene with me to take care of that anymore. Annie is pretty chill about library access - so long as someone is able to say 'yeah this person seems like they probably won't burn the place down.']

sid's chantry activity

Sid is going to start hanging out at the chantry on the weekends and maybe dropping in about once a week during the week effective immediately. She will spend this first weekend crashing out on couches, and then she's going to claim the second floor corner unit with windows on two walls. Then she will cover most of the surfaces with potted flowery things and at least one spider plant to live on the dresser.

The bulk of her time at the chantry will be spent in the library (once she has clearance). However, she'll need to take breaks of she'll go blind. So!

What she does on her study breaks:

Helps Justin with gardening - double Green Thumbs mean double the paradise!
Helps with repairs, particularly to the stable (Ariel if we don't get to scene this sometime, know that Sid will be asking Justin a zillion questions pretty much the whole time)
Will (try to) convince Shoshannah to knock out the screen on her window so they can hang on that roof section at night sometimes
Installs a lock on her door
Replaces any of Justin's beer that she drinks within a few days

In the event that the chantry fills up with legit residents, Sid will give up her room

Worth a note: Sid has this really awesome nebula tapestry/blanket (pic in my gallery) that she will sometimes use to go read outside in the shade. It's 8'x10' so there's more than enough room for others to hang with her if they want.

Shoshannah's Chantry Activity

Uh, she moved in whenever it was that Padre got rid of her, and claimed the smallest bedroom sort of tentatively, but has since made it one of the prettiest decorated rooms in the place. Madamoiselle Scorpio likes her fine things, even when she's ballin' on a budget. Maybe especially then.

These are things she can commonly be found doing, some of which can happen anywhere on the property:

Cleaning/tidying/making sure everything is nice
Meditating
Soaking in the hot springs until she's dizzy (for which I blame Annie's mention of doing the same)
Reading/researching in the library (to which she's added her own books, for now)
Practicing skills necessary for warding/maintaining wards
Communing with spirits
Being creepy/angsty/sullen/etc.

Hawksley's Chantry Activity

July 14th

Sera took Hawksley to the Chantry and gave him the grand tour. Needs to have IDs added to the library so he can go hug the shelves more frequently. (Asked Sera who could take care of that for him, is seeking that person out; I don't care if this happens in a scene or behind-the-scenes, personally.)
Meditated 1 hour, absorbed 2 Quintessence. During this time I assume Sera did yoga or something. Idk, she's on some weird juice cleanse.
