Here are a few of my favorite guys who usually miss the Billboard charts:
First up is a band that would be local to Denver, the successor to RATM in Flobots:
Second is probably more well-known, miss Amanda Palmer. Theatre is Evil was my favorite album of last year. I know she has a bit of a controversial reputation, but seriously, tell me this song isn't freaking beautiful:
Finally I have Orphaned Land, an Arabic metal band who are just fantastic if you're a metal fan:

For those who are interested this weekend, Lollapalooza is streaming most of their live sets on YouTube. It starts today at 1:30 MST at the link below!

My new favorite song and music video. You may have seen this, it's made a lot of rounds but it's totally worth it.
All the signs are great, but my personal favorite is "I don't need you to tell me how much I like anything." "Men are women too," "No one gets to tell you how to be a geek" and "Geek + Equality = Geekuality" tied for close seconds.

Oh man I love this video. Kelly Sue DeConnick's "Who died and made you Batman" card cracks me up every time.

So you may well have heard of Lindsey Stirling. If you haven't, you're in for a serious treat. Lindsey is a violinist/dancer/performance artist who's been known for her choreographed violin performances (she was the "Hip Hop Violinist" on a season of America's Got Talent too).
I have a ton of respect for people who can do mainstream covers with string instruments, so here's her cover of "Radioactive" with a cappella group Pentatonix...and as a bonus, another great string group 2CELLOS covering U2's "With Or Without You":

I see your hip hop violinist and meet her with dubstep as performed by a one man string quartet. Meet Aidan Chan, who is adorable as well as super talented. For the record, these following videos are what I think Performance 4 looks like - vaguely unhinged and completely lost in the art one is creating.
Pulling up Aidan Chan led me to this girl, who is also amazing - more dubstep, this time on piano. I'm in awe of people who can create the drop on real instruments.
And now, hot blonde twins playing harp - I wish they were a little less obviously conscious of staging, etc. It comes off as false, but still! Pretty, pretty. Also, not dubstep.
This is my favorite 2cellos video - I made a Euthie based on this video once, and I've still never played him for more than a social scene or two.

If anyone hasn't heard this song a million times already, you're welcome.

Portugal the Man played the Ogden over the weekend and I went and they played this which is one of my favorite songs, and definitely my favorite song from them so far.

Hah! Nice.
(What makes this even more appropriate is that Björk has the same birthday as me.)
