- In early May, a metis named River of Clouds was found in the underground parking garage of Republic Plaza. He was impaled a post, with the dismembered bodies of 6 humans laid out around him, arranged in the form of a 6-pointed star. All were missing their hearts.
- A couple of weeks later, an insane Spiral cub/a runaway girl from Gunnison attempted to lure 'Rabid' Jack Rabbit away with her. She made no secret of the fact that she had killed the humans and River of Clouds. She was taken to the Warder of Cold Crescent and interrogated for three weeks by Warning Threshold.
- It appears that this cub, called Fern, was completing these murders in order to join the Beloved Horror. According to the Warder of Forgotten Questions, the Beloved Horror is recruiting.
- A year or so ago, the Sept of the Cold Crescent was facing regular attacks by a pack of Spirals calling themselves l'horreur bien-aimée -- the Beloved Horror, under the totem of Green dragon. A little over a year ago, they were a pack of twelve. Most of the Spirals in the pack were inbred and many were metis. They had an affectation for ritualistic body arrangement, they liked playing with intestines, and they enjoy eating hearts.
- No one seems to know why the pack was so fixated on the Cold Crescent. They tended to go after Garou who were alone or in small groups. The Garou managed to cut the pack in half, but only slowly and with a great deal more loss of life on the Gaian side. The Beloved Horror crept off, leaving Denver -- presumably to lick their wounds. They were pursued, but by then, the truth is that the pursuit was halfhearted. The Sept was sick of throwing their own Garou away like so much canon fodder.
- There's rumors that the Beloved Horror also has some kind of history with Forgotten Questions, but it's not currently widespread knowledge. Local NPCs tend not to go out of their way to bring new folks or cliaths up to speed unless asked.
- The Warder of Cold Crescent sent Fern to Forgotten Questions for further rehabilitation in early June. During transport, she and her escorts were attacked by The Beloved Horror. Some were killed; one was taken. Fern was delivered to Forgotten Questions.
- In late July, Champion of Honor was recovered by Keisha Ballard, Ingrid Kim, and Thomas Delacroix. They also found a cub named Kelly who was far less corrupted than Fern and 'guarding' Champion of Honor (catatonic and unresponsive) and delivered him to Cold Crescent. He was sent to Forgotten Questions as well without incident.
- In early August, Erich Reinhardt, Sam Evans, Thomas Delacroix and Hector Ghosh ran into a member of the Beloved Horror at a bar called Tommy T's. He had a near-vegetable woman and an infant with him. He set the entire place on fire and stopped short of killing them, though any indication of 'why' has not been widely talked about by the characters present.
- The baby at Tommy T's was taken by Sam Evans when his mother could not be stirred to save him. What has become of
- Also in early August, Champion of Honor regained consciousness but not cognizance and somehow spread corruption through the entire Guardianship of Cold Crescent. They tore themselves and each other to pieces on the top floor of the sept in front of the shrine to Luna. Champion of Honor attacked Keisha Ballard, Thomas Delacroix, Ingrid Kim and Caleb Morgan and was 'killed' without falling several times over until he was decapitated. Simultaneously, green fire spread through the upper floors of 1999 Broadway, causing the sept to evacuate. It consumed the still-ambulatory corpse of Champion of Honor.
- As of mid-august, heavy and near-constant cleansing of the sept is underway. A mass Gathering for the Departed was held for the Guardians, most of whom posthumously lost renown and rank for falling to the Wyrm, though none more than Champion of Honor, as no one knows whether or not he was actively corrupted or 'infected' like the others. Most of the sept's inhabitants below the rank of Adren are holed up in nearby hotels.
- The sept is without Guardians. The elders of Cold Crescent remain in 1999 Broadway and refuse to see lower-ranked garou or take their questions. Kin are not permitted in the upper floors until the Warder is certain they've been completely cleansed of taint and the spirits of despair, pain, anger and fear have stopped swarming. Cliath and Fostern garou who can soothe the spirits and cleanse the area (mostly Theurges) are allowed, but even they can't get any answers.
